In 1543, Nicolaus Copernicus, one of the world's greatest astronomers, was buried in an unmarked grave in Frombork, Poland. The exact location of his grave remained a mystery until recently, when a joint Polish/Swedish team of scientists announced that they had matched DNA extracted from bones unearthed in Frombork with DNA extracted from hair discovered in a book once owned by Copernicus but now in Uppsala, Sweden.
Documentary "Copernicus tomb mystery" shows all the discovery process leading to confirm that after five years of researching and excavations, team of Polish and Swedish scientists lead by prof. Jerzy G
ąssowski, found the forgotten place and remains of Nicolaus Copernicus, famous astronomer, the author of Heliocentric Theory described in his book "De revolutionibus". Our film crew was the only one which had exclusive permission to shoot for five years all that exceptional and amazing discovery.

The next three years were devoted to solving the secret of Copernicus’ code, by identifing mitochondrial DNA from the skull and searching for DNA material for comparision research. In our document you will follow closely the research from finding the skull to the last unprecedented discovery of two Copernicus' hairs in the Stoefler Almanach from Copernicus private library kept now in Uppsala, Sweden.
